5A molecular sieve is a synthetic zeolite with a uniform microporous structure. It is a calcium/sodium type A zeolite. By exchanging some sodium ions (Na⁺) in 4A molecular sieve (sodium type) with calcium ions (Ca²⁺), the pore window diameter is expanded from 4Å to 5Å, thus having the ability to screen larger molecules.
Chemical formula: 3/4CaO·1/4Na2O·Al2O3·2SiO2·9/2H2O
Silicon-aluminum ratio: SiO2/Al2O3≈2
Effective pore size: about 5A (0.5 nm)

Applications
Mainly used for the separation of normal isoparaffins, oxygen and nitrogen separation, drying and refining of chemicals, petroleum and natural gas, ammonia decomposition gas and other industrial gases and liquids.
1. Deep drying of gases and liquids such as air, natural gas, alkanes, and refrigerants
2. Preparation and purification of argon gas
3. Static drying of pharmaceutical packaging, electronic components and perishable substances
4. As a dehydrating agent in paints, fuels and coatings
Molecular sieve 5A has a pore size of 5 angstroms, meaning it cannot absorb molecules smaller than 5A. This type is an alkali aluminosilicate in the claim form of Type A crystal structure. That means it will separate normal and isomerous alkane, the co-absorption of moisture and carbon dioxide, as well as pressure swing absorption (PSA) for various gases.
